Amoxicillin clav

**All of these are to an extreme degree & interfering with everyday life.** I was starting to think I was crazy since none of the official medicine thingies really mention the symptoms I have been having. I'm on day 6 of a 7-day regimen; will probably go ahead and finish & hope I start feeling more clear-headed & even-keeled soon.

I can't remember if I mentioned it, but forgetfulness.

:-) Seriously though, the symptoms are almost as bad as the infection. Thrush and loose stools and off balance stomach took 6 to 7 months after to get my stomach back I advise to take a pro biotic during an after use and as to get a antifungal mouth wash as I got thrush on my tongue.

Worked on my throat worst pain/ sickness I had sense chicken pox and food poisoning so it worked great.

I HOPE I NEVER HAVE TO TAKE AMOXICILLIN OR SIMILAR DRUG AGAIN,HORRIBLE.

Slght muscle cramp, dehydration, nausea if epocrates amoxicillin taken without food, upset stomach, occasional dry mouth. I was only able to take it for seven due to the side effects mentioned previously.

Outside of the side effects it did exactly what it's suppose to do.

While taking this make sure you drink plenty of water through out the day! After fourth day I noticed constipation, sore throat and stuffy feeling in head as well as fatigue. I would say drink lots of water and make sure you eat when taking this medication. Not working at the moment 5th day of 7 feeling very tired and depressed.

A good and safe drug for its intended use, but keep an antifungal creme on hand, since you may experience a tinea infection.

I take Amoxicillin as a pre med before dentist appointments. I had a cleaning & crown scheduled within a 2 week period which means I took 2 2000/mg doses within that time.

My side effects included adult acne on my forehead and a vaginal infection.

I chose amoxicillin and not to go to the doctor for the vaginal infection (I wanted to see if it would clear up on its own. I am also immunosuppressed (transplant recipient, which is why I am required to take the pre med). I usually don't have major issues with this drug, however, the vaginal issue was VERY unpleasant.

I was well when I took it (I take the medication to PREVENT an infection due to dental work).

With taking large doses 14 days apart, I can safely assume that was why the side effects were more severe (I am also a small woman: 5'1" 110#). It has helped me pinpoint which medications are causing side effects. I don't feel that it's 'dramatic' to write an honest review of what is happening with your body. This is the safest and one of the oldest antibiotics out there, and thankfully my toddler tolerated it well with probiotics 5-6 hours after the morning dose.

I've taken this med several times over the past two years for tooth infection avoidance without any negative side effects.

However,this time was totally different the fatigue and back pain were the worst and i almost didn't take my last five pills because of this. The back pain started on the second day my doctor said to keep taking the meds, by the fourth day i felt so bad that i started taking them every ten hours instead of every 8. This eased the nausea and fatigue somewhat along with eating greek yogurt 2.5hrs. after each dose, of course i had to take the meds longer but was able to function better.

I have become quite sensitive to antibiotics as i've gotten older.

of course they have their side effects too but not nearly as bad as prescribed meds., and they get the job done naturally. The amoxicillin cleared my infection, but along with it came certain side effects.

No side effects, I wish people would stop being so dramatic as other will people will get paranoid and aviod treating their infection!! Amoxil is a fab antibiotic, as with any antibiotic space them evenly, every 6-8 hours, eat with them as this will stop nausea or upset stomach and give them a chance to work. More than likely its the infection itself that is making you feel ill not the tablets. On 25 June 2015, the European Medicines Agency completed a review of Amoxil. Amoxil is marketed in the following EU Member States: Belgium, Cyprus, France, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom.

In some countries it is available under the trade names Amoxicilline Biogaran and Clamoxyl.

The company that markets these medicines is GlaxoSmithKline.

Amoxil has been authorised in the EU via national procedures. This has led to divergences across Member States in the way the medicine can be used, as seen in the differences in the summaries of product characteristics (SmPCs), labelling and package leaflets in the countries where the medicine is marketed.

Amoxil was identified as needing harmonisation by the Co-ordination Group for Mutual Recognition and Decentralised Procedures – Human (CMDh).

On 22 July 2013, the European Commission referred the matter to the CHMP in order to harmonise the marketing authorisations for Amoxil in the EU.

The CHMP, in the light of the data submitted and the scientific discussion within the Committee, was of the opinion that the SmPCs, labelling and package leaflets should be harmonised across the EU.

The areas harmonised include: The CHMP agreed that the oral (to be taken by mouth) formulations of Amoxil (such as capsules, tablets and suspensions) can be used in adults and children for the treatment of the following bacterial infections: Acute bacterial sinusitis (infection of the sinuses); Acute otitis media (infection of the middle ear); Acute streptococcal tonsillitis and pharyngitis (infections of the tonsils and throat); Acute exacerbations (flare-ups) of chronic bronchitis (inflammation of the airways in the lungs); Community acquired pneumonia (infection of the lungs acquired outside the hospital); Acute cystitis (infection of the bladder); Asymptomatic bacteriuria (bacteria detected in the urine) in pregnancy; Acute pyelonephritis (kidney infection); Typhoid and paratyphoid fever; Dental abscess with spreading cellulitis (inflammation of the deep skin tissue); Prosthetic joint infections; Helicobacter pylori eradication; Lyme disease. Oral Amoxil can also be used for the prevention of endocarditis (infection of the inner lining of the heart). Amoxil is also available as a solution for injection or infusion (drip) into a vein, and as a solution for injection into a muscle. These formulations can be used to treat adults and children with the following bacterial infections: Severe infections of the ear, nose and throat (such as mastoiditis, peritonsillar infections, epiglottitis, and sinusitis when accompanied by severe systemic signs and symptoms); Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis; Community acquired pneumonia; Acute cystitis; Acute pyelonephritis; Severe dental abscess with spreading cellulitis; Prosthetic joint infections; Lyme disease; Bacterial meningitis (infection of the membranes around the brain and spine); Bacteraemia (bacteria detected in the blood) that occurs in association with, or is suspected to be associated with, any of the infections listed above. The injectable formulations can also be used for the treatment and prevention of endocarditis.

The CHMP also agreed that Amoxil should no longer be used to treat female genital infections, because not enough clinical data are available to support this indication. Additionally, Amoxil should no longer be used in several other indications (treatment of bronchitis, acute lung disease, urethritis (inflammation of amoxicillin tablet 500 mg the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body), gonococcal infections, male genital infections, gonorrhoea (a sexually transmitted infection caused by bacteria called Neisseria gonorrhoeae ), enteritis (inflammation of the small intestine) with bacteraemia and intra-abdominal infections such as peritonitis, cholecystitis and acute cholangitis, and serious infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae ). This is either because antibiotics are no longer used to treat these conditions, or because other antibiotics have been shown to be more effective than amoxicillin.

Having harmonised the indications, the CHMP also harmonised the recommendations on how to use Amoxil. The recommended dose of Amoxil varies depending on the infection it is used to treat, the way it is given, and the age and weight of the patient. Doses range from 250 mg to 2 g two or three times a day for adults and children weighing more than 40 kilograms, and from 20 to 200 mg per kilogram per day for children weighing less than 40 kilograms. The CHMP agreed that Amoxil must not be used in patients who are hypersensitive (allergic) to amoxicillin or any other ingredients of Amoxil, and to any of the penicillins. Additionally, Amoxil must not be used in patients who have had severe allergic reactions to another type of beta-lactam antibiotic (e.g.

The Committee also harmonised other sections of the SmPC including sections 4.4 (special warnings and precautions for use), 4.6 (fertility, pregnancy and lactation), and 4.8 (side effects). A decision on this opinion was issued by the European Commission on 20/08/2015. The pharmaceutical company has decided to discontinue this product.

Amoxil is indicated for the treatment of the following infections in adults and children (see sections 4.2, 4.4 and 5.1): • Acute bacterial sinusitis. Amoxil is also indicated for the prophylaxis of endocarditis. Consideration should be given to official guidance on the appropriate use of antibacterial agents. The dose of Amoxil that is selected to treat an individual infection should take into account: • The expected pathogens and their likely susceptibility to antibacterial agents (see section 4.4) • The severity and the site of the infection.

• The age, weight and renal function of the patient; as shown below. The duration of therapy should be determined by the type of infection and the response of the patient, and should generally be as short as possible. Some infections require longer periods of treatment (see section 4.4 regarding prolonged therapy). 250 mg to 500 mg every 8 hours or 750 mg to 1 g every 12 hours.

Acute cystitis may be treated with 3 g twice daily for one day.

500 mg every 8 hours, 750 mg to 1 g every 12 hours.

For severe infections 750 mg to 1 g every 8 hours for 10 days.

2 g orally, single dose 30 to 60 minutes before procedure.

750 mg to 1 g twice daily in combination with a proton pump inhibitor (e.g. omeprazole, lansoprazole) and another antibiotic (e.g.

Lyme disease (see section 4.4) Early stage: 500 mg to 1 g every 8 hours up to a maximum of 4 g/day in divided doses for 14 days (10 to 21 days) Late stage (systemic involvement): 500 mg to 2 g every 8 hours up to a maximum of 6 g/day in divided doses for 10 to 30 days.

The main mechanisms of resistance to amoxicillin are: • Inactivation by bacterial beta-lactamases.

• Alteration of PBPs, which reduce the affinity of the antibacterial agent for the target. Impermeability of bacteria or efflux pump mechanisms may cause or contribute to bacterial resistance, particularly in Gram-negative bacteria.

MIC breakpoints for amoxicillin are those of the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) version 5.0. MIC breakpoint (mg/L) Susceptible ? Staphylococcus spp. 1 Wild type Enterobacteriaceae are categorised as susceptible to aminopenicillins.

Some countries prefer to categorise wild type isolates of E. When this is the case, use the MIC breakpoint S ? 0.5 mg/L. 2 Most staphylococci are penicillinase producers, which are resistant to amoxicillin. Methicillin resistant isolates are, with few exceptions, resistant to all beta-lactam agents.

3 Susceptibility to amoxicillin can be inferred from ampicillin. 4 The susceptibility of streptococcus groups A, B, C and G to penicillins is inferred from the benzylpenicillin susceptibility.

5 Breakpoints relate only to non-meningitis isolates. For isolates categorised as intermediate to ampicillin avoid oral treatment with amoxicillin. Susceptibility inferred from the MIC of ampicillin. 6 Breakpoints are based on intravenous administration. Beta-lactamase positive isolates should be reported resistant. 7 Beta lactamase producers should be reported resistant.

8 Susceptibility to amoxicillin can be inferred from benzylpenicillin. 9 The breakpoints are based on epidemiological cut-off values (ECOFFs), which distinguish wild-type isolates from those with reduced susceptibility.
